The Samsung Galaxy Book6 Ultra is a premium 16-inch laptop designed for professionals, content creators, and demanding everyday users who want powerful hardware without the bulk of a traditional performance notebook. Combining Intel's latest Core Ultra processors, dedicated Nvidia graphics, and a high-resolution OLED touchscreen, it aims to deliver desktop-class versatility in a slim package. Its strongest selling points are its refined construction, excellent display, and balanced performance, although a few compromises prevent it from being the obvious choice for everyone.

Premium Design Without the Bulk

Samsung has given the Galaxy Book6 Ultra a minimalist aluminum unibody that emphasizes portability without sacrificing a premium feel. At approximately 4.2 pounds and just 0.61 inches thick, it is relatively easy to carry for a 16-inch laptop equipped with dedicated graphics.

The centered keyboard omits a number pad, creating a symmetrical layout that looks clean but may disappoint spreadsheet-heavy users. Key travel is relatively shallow, making typing feel less substantial than on some competing laptops. The large haptic touchpad is a highlight, offering precise tracking and responsive feedback.

Connectivity is surprisingly comprehensive for such a thin machine. Two Thunderbolt 4 ports, USB-A, HDMI 2.1, a full-size SD card reader, and a headphone jack accommodate most everyday peripherals. Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 provide modern wireless connectivity, while the quad-speaker system strengthens its multimedia credentials.

An Excellent OLED Display With One Important Caveat

The 16-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X touchscreen is among the laptop's most compelling features. Its 2880 x 1800 resolution delivers crisp images, while the 120Hz refresh rate makes scrolling and animations noticeably smoother.

Measured brightness reaches approximately 500 nits in SDR, with HDR peaks exceeding 1,000 nits. Combined with OLED's deep blacks and excellent contrast, these characteristics make the display particularly appealing for photography, video editing, and entertainment.

However, testing identified persistent 240Hz PWM flickering across brightness levels. Users sensitive to display flicker should consider this limitation carefully, especially if they regularly work for extended periods.

Strong Creative Performance, With Sensible Limits

The evaluated configuration pairs an Intel Core Ultra 7 356H with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU and 32GB of LPDDR5X memory. This combination provides substantial performance for demanding productivity, multitasking, and creative applications.

4K video editing in Adobe Premiere runs smoothly, reinforcing the laptop's suitability for content creation. Gaming performance is also impressive for its dimensions. Cyberpunk 2077 achieved approximately 112 frames per second at 1080p using High settings and DLSS Quality.

Nevertheless, the RTX 5070 operates within a 90W power envelope, and its 8GB of video memory can restrict demanding games at higher resolutions or maximum settings. Thicker gaming laptops remain better suited to sustained, uncompromised graphics performance.

Thermals introduce a trade-off. The chassis becomes noticeably warm above the keyboard and underneath during intensive workloads, with audible fan noise in higher performance modes. During ordinary productivity tasks, however, operation remains comparatively quiet.

Samsung's ecosystem integration adds convenience for existing Galaxy users. Features such as Multi Control enable interaction between compatible Galaxy devices and the laptop, although their value depends on owning other Samsung products.

Battery Life and Buying Verdict

Battery endurance is a major strength, although results vary considerably with testing conditions. An offline video-loop test reached 28 hours and 32 minutes, while separate streaming-video testing recorded 13 hours and 39 minutes. Wi-Fi browsing at controlled brightness lasted 16 hours and 49 minutes, dropping to 8 hours and 24 minutes at maximum brightness.

These figures demonstrate substantial endurance but should not be interpreted as directly comparable measurements.

The Galaxy Book6 Ultra is an excellent choice for professionals and creators prioritizing display quality, portability, connectivity, and capable graphics performance. Its shallow keyboard, PWM flickering, thermal compromises, and limited graphics memory make it less attractive for sensitive users or dedicated gamers. For buyers seeking a sophisticated Windows alternative to Apple's premium laptops, however, it offers a convincing combination of versatility and refinement.
