The JBL Endurance Peak 4 is designed for people who need wireless earbuds that can survive intense exercise without constantly requiring adjustment. Building on the previous generation, these sports-focused earbuds introduce a slimmer design, active noise cancellation, and improved everyday functionality while retaining the secure earhook fit that defines the series. The result is a more versatile workout companion, particularly for runners and gym enthusiasts who prioritize stability and durability over compactness or audiophile-level sound quality.

The most noticeable improvement over the Endurance Peak 3 is the redesigned earhook system. The Peak 4 features slimmer, lighter earpieces with flexible hooks that wrap around the ears, complemented by JBL's TwistLock mechanism. This combination provides excellent stability during running, sprinting, and high-intensity workouts. Unlike conventional wireless earbuds that rely primarily on silicone tips for stability, the Peak 4 remains anchored through vigorous movement. However, the wraparound design takes more effort to put on and remove than standard earbuds.

Durability is another major strength. The earbuds carry an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, allowing them to withstand heavy sweating, rain, and immersion in water up to 1.5 meters. They can also be rinsed under a tap after workouts. The charging case offers IPX2 splash resistance, although it remains relatively bulky compared with everyday wireless earbud cases. It's smaller than the previous generation's case but still less convenient for carrying in a pocket.

JBL equips the Endurance Peak 4 with 10mm dynamic drivers and its signature Pure Bass tuning. The sound emphasizes punchy, energetic bass that complements workout playlists, particularly electronic music, hip-hop, and bass-heavy pop. Despite the prominent low frequencies, vocals remain reasonably clear, while the treble provides enough definition for rock music and podcasts. The presentation favors excitement over neutrality, with a relatively intimate soundstage that limits the sense of spaciousness. The JBL Headphones app helps address individual preferences through customizable equalizer settings, allowing users to adjust the bass and overall tonal balance.

A significant upgrade is the addition of active noise cancellation, which was absent from the Peak 3. ANC effectively reduces background distractions such as treadmill noise, ventilation systems, and general gym chatter. However, performance becomes less consistent outdoors. Wind turbulence can interfere with the listening experience during runs, making noise cancellation less useful in exposed environments. Smart Ambient features, including Ambient Aware and TalkThru, provide alternatives when environmental awareness or brief conversations matter more than isolation.

Bluetooth 5.3 provides modern wireless connectivity, while multipoint support allows connections to two devices simultaneously. Google Fast Pair simplifies pairing with compatible Android devices. Touch-sensitive controls handle playback and other functions, with customizable gestures available through the companion app. Unfortunately, responsiveness can become inconsistent when fingers are sweaty or the earbuds are wet, making physical buttons potentially preferable during demanding workouts.

Battery life is competitive. JBL rates the earbuds for up to 12 hours per charge with ANC disabled, dropping to approximately 8–10 hours when noise cancellation is active. The charging case extends total playback to around 36 hours. USB-C fast charging adds convenience, with up to four hours of playback possible from a 10-minute charge under favorable conditions.

The JBL Endurance Peak 4 is a substantial improvement over its predecessor, combining exceptional workout stability, strong durability, and useful noise cancellation with an energetic sound signature. Its bulky case, occasionally frustrating touch controls, and wind-sensitive ANC prevent it from being an ideal all-purpose option. However, runners and gym users who value a secure fit above everything else will find plenty to appreciate. For demanding workouts, the Endurance Peak 4 is a compelling choice. For everyday commuting or listeners seeking a more balanced, spacious sound, conventional wireless earbuds may be a better fit.
