Wabi announced a $55 million funding round on October 29, valuing the personal AI startup at $1.25 billion. The investment was led by IVP, with participation from Andreessen Horowitz, Forerunner, Amazon Alexa Fund, and several prominent technology executives and entrepreneurs. The financing provides new backing for a product attempting to move AI assistance beyond individual chatbot conversations toward interactive, collaborative applications.

Founded by Eugenia Kuyda, who previously created the AI companion platform Replika, Wabi has evolved from a prompt-based app-building concept into a broader personal agent. Its current approach combines conversational assistance, personalized mini-applications, and shared spaces where people can organize activities together. Rather than producing only a one-time response, the system aims to create tools that remain useful after the original interaction.

Wabi describes practical uses that include coordinating group activities, planning dates, organizing family responsibilities, developing fitness challenges, and creating specialized games. A group of friends might maintain shared music discoveries, while a family could use a recurring meal planner connected to a grocery list. These scenarios illustrate the company's central proposition: an AI assistant can become more useful when it builds persistent interfaces around recurring tasks and relationships.

The company says the new capital will support further product development and expansion. According to its announcement, Wabi is available on iOS, Android, and Mac, with Windows support planned. Its investor group includes Shopify CEO Tobi Lütke, Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff, former Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer, former Twitter CEO Dick Costolo, and musician Alex Pall. The roster highlights investor interest in consumer AI experiences that extend beyond conventional text-based interfaces.

Wabi's valuation is a significant vote of confidence, but it is not evidence that the company has already established a durable consumer business. Its collaborative approach introduces questions about how shared personal information is managed, whether generated mini-apps remain reliable over time, and how frequently users return to them. The announced financing creates an opportunity to develop that model further, while meaningful adoption and retention will ultimately determine whether personalized AI applications become a mainstream software category.
