Sony is extending its Android 17 rollout to the Xperia 10 VII and Xperia 10 VIII, bringing the latest operating system to two more devices in its smartphone lineup. GSMArena reported the expansion on November 5, following the earlier Android 17 releases for the Xperia 1 VIII in September and Xperia 1 VII in October.

The update introduces an expanded Wallpaper & style interface, allowing users to customize icon shapes and styles alongside refreshed wallpaper and clock options. Sony has also redesigned Quick Settings with adjustable tile sizes, improved organization, and optional descriptions on larger controls. These changes give users more control over the appearance and accessibility of frequently used features.

Screen recording receives practical improvements as well. Users can capture either the entire display or an individual application, with the option to record device audio and microphone input simultaneously. That makes the feature more useful for demonstrations, gameplay recordings, and instructional videos without requiring additional recording software.

The Xperia 10 models do not receive every Android 17 capability available on Sony's higher-end devices. According to GSMArena, the update excludes Desktop Mode, AirDrop interoperability through Quick Share, and the enhanced AI Camera Assistant found on supported Xperia 1 models. Sony's official Android 17 documentation confirms that feature availability varies by model and software version.

Sony has not provided a complete regional rollout schedule for these two phones. GSMArena expects availability to begin in the UK and Europe based on previous Xperia updates, but that regional sequence remains an expectation rather than a confirmed deployment plan. Owners can check their device's system update settings for availability.
