Omen AI has acquired fellow sensor developer Aquatic Labs in a transaction valued at $16 million, according to a November 2 report from TechCrunch. The cash-and-stock deal brings together two companies developing technology to monitor the liquids used in industrial cooling systems, including those supporting increasingly power-hungry AI infrastructure.

Cooling is a significant operational challenge for large data centers, where maintaining appropriate fluid conditions helps equipment operate reliably. Conventional monitoring can involve collecting samples and sending them to laboratories, introducing delays between identifying a potential problem and receiving usable information. Omen AI is developing sensors intended to provide more immediate visibility into cooling-system conditions.

The companies bring different approaches to the problem. Omen's technology monitors substances present in cooling fluids, while Aquatic Labs has developed sensing capabilities focused on alkalinity. The combined company aims to integrate those measurements into a single system, giving operators additional information without depending entirely on periodic laboratory testing.

The acquisition also changes Omen's technical leadership. Aquatic Labs CEO Allan Adams is joining as chief science officer, bringing experience in physics and ocean-sensing technology. Omen founder Zach Laberge told TechCrunch that the companies expect to have their integrated sensor available by early 2027. That remains a development target rather than confirmation that the combined product is already shipping.

Omen raised a $31 million Series A earlier in 2026. Laberge also outlined ambitious deployment goals, including monitoring cooling systems associated with chips consuming hundreds of megawatts of power by the end of this year and targeting an equivalent gigawatt of capacity by the end of 2027. Those figures are company projections, not independently verified installations. The acquisition reflects growing commercial interest in infrastructure tools that support large-scale computing beyond the chips themselves.
