iPhone Duo preorders open today as Apple’s foldable reaches its next milestone
Orders begin October 16. Apple’s announcement was published October 15 — this is preorder news, not a new unveiling.

Apple scheduled iPhone Duo preorders for 5 a.m. Pacific today, October 16, through its website and Apple Store app. The company outlined the ordering arrangements in an October 15 newsroom update.[1]
The foldable has a compact outer screen and a larger inner display designed for Split View multitasking. Apple says the interface adapts as the phone folds, rotates or switches between displays, and that the device is powered by its A20 Pro chip.[1]
Siri AI is rolling out in English as a beta with iOS 27, so shoppers should distinguish the hardware available to order from software features with their own rollout conditions.[1]
Our take: preorders are a commercial milestone, not evidence of durability or real-world battery life. We have not tested the hinge, screen or cameras. Trade-in and carrier promotions also have eligibility conditions; they should not be treated as the phone’s unconditional price.
