Apple's second-generation HomePod mini contains 2GB of RAM supplied by SK Hynix, according to a new hardware finding reported by MacRumors on November 4. The publication says it has confirmed the memory capacity and supplier, revealing a specification that Apple does not disclose in the speaker's official technical documentation. The finding adds another detail to the internal hardware picture of the recently released smart speaker.

The reported memory configuration is consistent with the S10 processor used inside the HomePod mini 2. That chip also powers the Apple Watch Series 10, which MacRumors notes has 2GB of RAM. The connection helps explain why the specification is plausible, but the publication presents the HomePod mini 2 finding as its own confirmation rather than simply assuming the speaker shares the watch's memory configuration.

Apple introduced the second-generation HomePod mini in October 2026 and began selling it on October 30. The speaker replaces the original model's S5 processor with the newer S10 chip and adds connectivity upgrades including Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 6. Its advertised capabilities also include advanced computational audio, new color options, and support for expanded speaker arrangements with compatible Apple TV hardware.

One of the product's major promised features is access to more advanced Siri AI functionality. However, Apple previously said that this capability would arrive through a future software update rather than being available at launch. The newly reported memory specification does not establish how much processing the speaker will perform locally, how much will depend on other Apple devices, or whether additional RAM directly improves the forthcoming Siri experience.

For buyers, the practical importance of the report is additional transparency about a device whose internal memory Apple does not normally advertise. The presence of 2GB of RAM is now an attributed hardware finding, but it is not evidence on its own of faster response times or better audio quality. Those improvements would require separate testing, and MacRumors' report does not present comparative benchmarks or new audio measurements.
