Google Maps Finally Fills Both iPhone Duo Screens in Latest Update
Version 26.44.4 removes unused screen borders and brings a more complete navigation layout to Apple's foldable iPhone.

Google Maps has received an update that makes better use of Apple's foldable iPhone Duo. According to MacRumors, version 26.44.4 now fills both the device's inner and outer displays, addressing a compatibility issue that previously left unused space along the edges of the interface.
The previous release, version 26.43.1, had only partially adapted to the Duo's unusual display configuration. Users could still see a vertical black border along the right side of the screen. The latest update eliminates that limitation, allowing the map to extend across the available display area.
On the expanded inner screen, the interface places the search field near the upper-left corner, with Explore, You, and Contribute accessible through a left-side panel. Map controls remain positioned on the right. The arrangement takes advantage of the additional horizontal space instead of simply stretching a conventional smartphone layout.
The improvement is available through the App Store, although Google's published release notes do not specifically mention iPhone Duo compatibility. MacRumors identified the changes in the updated interface, making this an observed application improvement rather than a separately announced Google feature.
Google Maps joins a growing collection of applications being adapted for Apple's foldable hardware. MacRumors reports that Zoom and several Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote, also received Duo optimizations earlier this week. For owners of the new device, these incremental updates are helping close the gap between basic application compatibility and interfaces designed for its larger screen.
