Fairphone's Fairbuds 2 have reached their scheduled US release date of November 2, bringing the Dutch company's latest repairable wireless earbuds to American customers. The US storefront lists the headphones for $119.99 in Forest Green and Horizon Black, following their October introduction in European markets. The American availability milestone gives buyers another option in a category where replacing worn batteries often means replacing the entire product.

Repairability is central to the Fairbuds 2 design. Fairphone specifies seven replaceable components, including batteries in the earbuds and charging case. The company's modular approach allows owners to address battery deterioration or damaged parts without automatically discarding an otherwise functional pair of headphones. Fairphone also advertises a warranty of up to three years, subject to applicable terms.

The earbuds use 11mm biocellulose dynamic drivers and support SBC, AAC, LC3, and Sony's LDAC Bluetooth audio codec. Bluetooth 6.0 connectivity includes multipoint functionality, while a six-microphone array supports active noise cancellation. Fairphone claims noise reduction of up to 45dB, although that manufacturer figure should not be interpreted as an independently verified measurement of everyday performance.

Battery endurance is rated at up to eight hours per charge with noise cancellation disabled, falling to six hours when ANC is enabled. Fairphone advertises up to 40 hours of total playback with the charging case under its stated testing conditions. Other features include IP54 dust and splash resistance, customizable sound settings, and capacitive touch controls.

Fairphone also emphasizes the materials used in manufacturing. Its US specifications list 46.8% fair and recycled materials by total weight, 73% recycled plastics, and a PFAS-free exterior. These are manufacturer-reported sustainability specifications rather than independently assessed conclusions about the product's complete environmental impact. The company's repair-focused strategy makes the new US availability particularly relevant to consumers seeking wireless earbuds that can be maintained rather than routinely replaced.
