ASUS has published additional specifications for its ROG XG Station 3 external graphics dock, confirming compatibility with modern flagship desktop GPUs and the company's cable-free BTF power system. Geeknetic reported the latest details on November 4, expanding on a product that ASUS had already demonstrated in 2025.

The dock uses Thunderbolt 5 connectivity, providing up to 80Gbps of bidirectional bandwidth. ASUS also specifies support for up to 120Gbps in one direction for demanding video workloads. Compatible graphics families include Nvidia's GeForce RTX 50 and RTX PRO 6000 series, AMD's Radeon RX 9000 lineup, and Intel Arc cards. The open-frame design leaves the installed graphics card exposed rather than enclosing it in a conventional external GPU housing.

One of the most distinctive features is compatibility with ASUS BTF graphics cards through an integrated GC-HPWR connection. With a supported card, including compatible RTX 5090 BTF configurations, the dock can supply GPU power without a separate external graphics-card power cable. Conventional graphics cards can still be installed, provided the necessary power connections are available.

The XG Station 3 also functions as a connectivity hub. ASUS lists two Thunderbolt 5 ports, two 10Gbps USB-C ports, up to 140W of laptop charging through the primary connection, and up to 36W of power delivery through the secondary Thunderbolt connection. Display support extends to configurations with as many as three 4K monitors, depending on the connected graphics hardware.

Buyers should pay particular attention to what is not included. Geeknetic reports that the dock ships without a graphics card or power supply. Users must supply a compatible SFX or SFX-L power unit, with the publication listing 750W or higher as the recommended capacity. The reported requirements include Windows 11 version 25H2 or later and a compatible host connection; macOS is not supported. ASUS has not established a confirmed retail price in the consulted reporting.

The November development is the publication of fuller connectivity and compatibility information, not the initial introduction of the hardware. The new details make it easier to evaluate the XG Station 3 as a modular desktop-GPU expansion option for compatible laptops and compact Windows PCs, although actual graphics performance will depend on the selected GPU, host system, and workload.
