Developer infrastructure platform Daytona announced on Friday that it has completed a $60 million Series B financing round at a $1 billion valuation, securing unicorn status as enterprise demand surges for secure, containerized cloud runtime environments engineered specifically for autonomous artificial intelligence agents.

The funding round was led by FirstMark Growth—which previously spearheaded Daytona’s $24 million Series A round in February—bringing the startup’s total funding to $91 million. The round also drew high-profile backing from an elite group of tech founders and angel investors, including Stripe CEO Patrick Collison, Shopify CEO Tobi Lütke, Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas, and Zoom CEO Eric Yuan.

Founded in 2023 by Ivan Burazin, Goran Draganić, and Vedran Jukić, Daytona initially established itself as an open-source development environment manager before engineering the "agentic cloud." The company’s specialized virtualization platform provides ephemeral, secure sandboxes that allow autonomous AI coding agents from OpenAI, Anthropic, and Nvidia to provision development workspaces, execute bash scripts, compile code, and run tests in isolated micro-virtual machines without risking host operating system corruption.

As software development transitions from conversational code autocomplete toward fully autonomous agent workflows, secure runtime isolation has emerged as an indispensable layer in modern software pipelines. Daytona's rapid valuation ascent reflects enterprise recognition that running untrusted, agent-generated code requires dedicated, sovereign virtualization layers capable of spinning up in milliseconds while enforcing strict network, filesystem, and secret-handling guardrails.
