The Switch 2 has been out for well over a year, and the accessory market has finally caught up. That matters, because most of your old Switch gear won't help: original cases don't fit the bigger screen, old Joy-Con don't attach to the new magnetic rails, and older microSD cards can't run Switch 2 games. Our team sorted through the controllers, cases, storage cards, headsets and chargers that work best with Nintendo's new console, and picked the ones we'd recommend to friends and family.

Below you'll find our quick picks, a closer look at each accessory, our recommendations by need and a short buying guide. Still deciding whether the Switch 2 is the right console for you? Read [our guide to the best consoles](/articles/best-gaming-consoles-2026-buying-guide/) first. If you want a controller or headset that also works on other systems, see [our guide to the best controllers and headsets](/articles/best-gaming-accessories-2026-buying-guide/). Have a PlayStation too? Here are [the best PS5 accessories](/articles/best-ps5-accessories-2026/).

**A note on prices:** Switch 2 accessories are frequently discounted around Black Friday (November 27) and Cyber Monday (November 30), especially microSD Express cards, cases and power banks. Nintendo's own accessories rarely see big cuts, and some have gone up in price since launch. We show approximate price ranges ($ = under $50, $$ = $50–$150, $$$ = $150–$300). Check the listing says "for Nintendo Switch 2" before you buy: many Switch 1 accessories look similar but won't fit.

Best controller

## Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller {#switch-2-pro-controller}

The single best upgrade if you play on the TV

![Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller in retail box](https://reviewblip.com/editorial-images/792a4e78fd7bd49f2f70e4ae661ff5408b6338933759e224e2c1d1462835e688)

- **Connection:** Wireless or wired (USB-C)
- **Battery:** Up to 40 hours
- **Features:** HD Rumble 2, motion controls, amiibo (NFC), wake from sleep
- **Extras:** Two mappable back buttons, C button for GameChat, 3.5mm jack
- **Sticks:** Standard (not Hall effect)
- **Price range:** $$ (launched at around $85)

Nintendo's new Pro Controller is the best gamepad the company has ever made, and the one we'd buy first for docked play. The soft matte finish feels premium, the weight is well balanced, and the thumbsticks are smooth and precise. Two back buttons sit flush on the grips and can be remapped straight from the console's quick menu, which is far easier than the companion apps third-party pads rely on. It's comfortable for long Mario Kart World sessions in a way the Joy-Con 2 in their grip just aren't.

HD Rumble 2 is the standout: vibration is precise and nuanced, not the generic buzzing of cheaper controllers. You also get every Nintendo feature, including amiibo, motion controls, wake-from-sleep and a headphone jack for chat. The downsides are the price, which adds up quickly for multiplayer, the lack of analog triggers for racing games and sticks that aren't Hall effect, so they don't have the same drift resistance as some rivals.

#### What we like

- Superb comfort and build
- Excellent HD Rumble 2
- Back buttons configurable in the system menu
- Around 40 hours of battery

#### What we don't

- Expensive
- No analog triggers
- Sticks aren't Hall effect

Best third-party controller

## 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Bluetooth Controller {#8bitdo-ultimate-2-bluetooth}

A premium pad with a charging dock, for less than Nintendo's

![8BitDo Ultimate 2 Bluetooth Controller with charging dock](https://reviewblip.com/editorial-images/243e4c2040c8876ba328d273a8485efbf5a1c2a14a8e5f47cf44b66d94d4c229)

- **Connection:** Bluetooth
- **Battery:** Around 25 hours
- **Weight:** 246g
- **Extras:** Mappable back buttons, charging dock included
- **Works with:** Switch 2, Switch, PC, mobile
- **Price range:** $$

8BitDo has been our go-to name for third-party Nintendo controllers for years, and the Ultimate 2 Bluetooth continues that run. It has an elegant, Xbox-style layout with the left stick up top, quick and responsive buttons, more durable thumbsticks than the original Ultimate, and mappable back buttons. The bundled charging dock is a lovely touch that Nintendo's controller doesn't offer: the pad slips in perfectly and is always charged when you pick it up.

It also works with PC and phones, so it's not tied to one console. There are trade-offs, though. You'll need to install a firmware update before it works on Switch 2, it can't wake the console from sleep, there's no amiibo support, and the D-pad is a little sensitive for games that need precise inputs.

#### What we like

- Premium build and comfortable grips
- Charging dock in the box
- Mappable back buttons
- Works across Switch, PC and mobile

#### What we don't

- Needs a firmware update for Switch 2
- Can't wake the console; no amiibo
- Slightly sensitive D-pad

**On a tighter budget?** The 8BitDo Ultimate 2C Bluetooth is a cheaper sibling with Hall effect sticks, rumble and motion controls. If you prefer a PlayStation-style layout, the 8BitDo Pro 2 is another long-standing favorite of ours.

Best case

## Belkin Charging Case for Nintendo Switch 2 {#belkin-charging-case}

Protection and extra battery life in one bag

![Belkin Charging Case for Nintendo Switch 2 with power bank](https://reviewblip.com/editorial-images/be639397af1c3965e398d33c886d0eeecbe5a70d4078f28b5a08a24ee688c7c3)

- **Design:** Hard-shell clamshell
- **Battery:** Removable 10,000mAh power pack, right-angle USB-C
- **Storage:** Up to 12 game cards, mesh pocket, hidden AirTag pocket
- **Fits:** Nintendo Switch 2
- **Price range:** $$ (around $70)

The Switch 2's battery life is its biggest weakness on the go, and Belkin's Charging Case tackles it head on. Inside the protective hard shell there's a strap and cutout for a removable 10,000mAh power pack with a right-angle USB-C plug, so you can top up the console while it's tucked away in your bag. A padded flap holds up to 12 game cards, and there's a hidden pocket for an AirTag or similar tracker.

It isn't fancy, but it combines solid protection with a genuinely useful bit of utility. If you already own a good power bank, Belkin sells the same case without the battery for around $30.

#### What we like

- Sturdy protection
- Built-in way to charge on the go
- Room for 12 game cards
- AirTag pocket

#### What we don't

- Bulkier than a slim sleeve
- Power pack adds weight

**Other options:** the Belkin Charging Case Pro ($99.99) adds pass-through charging with the case closed and a battery window, and its power bank doubles as a stand. If you just want something slim, the Tomtoc Slim Switch 2 Case is a good, light choice, and the Orzly Carrying Case holds up to 21 games for not much money.

Best screen protector

## amFilm OneTouch Screen Protector for Nintendo Switch 2 {#amfilm-screen-protector}

Cheap insurance for that big 7.9-inch screen

![amFilm OneTouch tempered glass screen protector for Nintendo Switch 2 with alignment frame](https://reviewblip.com/editorial-images/290986bb867f8c188a5cfb76f9daac3f571d93f0c51bc8a2a21b590890a5b779)

- **Material:** Tempered glass
- **Installation:** Auto-alignment frame
- **Pack:** Multiple protectors included
- **Finish:** Clear (matte version also available)
- **Price range:** $ (usually $10–$15)

A screen protector is the cheapest accessory you'll buy and one of the most important. The Switch 2 has a factory-applied protective layer (don't peel it off), but a tempered glass protector adds a much tougher barrier against scratches from pockets, bags and game cards. amFilm's OneTouch kit is the one we'd point most people to, because its alignment frame takes the guesswork out of installation and helps you avoid dust and bubbles.

You get spares in the pack in case your first attempt goes wrong or the glass takes a hit, and amFilm also makes a matte version that cuts glare if you often play near windows or under bright lights, at the cost of a slightly less crisp image.

#### What we like

- Very affordable
- Easy, bubble-free installation
- Spares included
- Matte option for glare

#### What we don't

- Matte version slightly dulls the display
- Clear version doesn't reduce glare

**Alternative:** the Genki Aegis Shield is another quality glass protector with its own easy-install kit.

Best microSD Express card

## Samsung P9 Express microSD Express Card {#samsung-p9-express}

The best-value way to expand your Switch 2's storage

![Samsung P9 Express microSD Express card (512GB model shown)](https://reviewblip.com/editorial-images/01372c092f1b39a9574bbd052cd0ce7144f1e4b8f8a8428860260a0a75e46463)

- **Format:** microSDXC Express (required for Switch 2 games)
- **Capacities:** 256GB and 512GB
- **Warranty:** 3 years
- **Our recommended size:** 256GB for most players
- **Price:** around $60–$80 (256GB)

The Switch 2 comes with 256GB of built-in storage, which fills up quickly if you buy digital games, and regular microSD cards from the original Switch can't run Switch 2 games. You need a microSD Express card, and the Samsung P9 Express is the one we recommend to most people. It isn't the very fastest card we know of, but it delivers reliable performance without overspending.

It also comes with a three-year warranty, longer than some competitors. Prices have come down since launch, and we've regularly seen the 256GB model discounted. If you have a big digital library, step up to the 512GB version or a 1TB card.

#### What we like

- Great value
- Reliable, consistent performance
- Three-year warranty
- Widely available

#### What we don't

- Not the fastest microSD Express card
- Express cards still cost more than regular microSD

**Other good cards:** the official Nintendo-licensed Samsung 256GB card (with Mario branding) is quoted at up to 880MB/s. SanDisk's microSD Express cards are among the fastest, and the 1TB PNY microSD Express card is a well-priced option if you need lots of room.

Best headset

## SteelSeries Arctis Nova 3 Wireless {#arctis-nova-3-wireless}

Great sound and easy wireless in handheld and docked mode

![SteelSeries Arctis Nova 3 Wireless gaming headset in lavender with dongle](https://reviewblip.com/editorial-images/c920b44cd3294b3763d77669d566285d7b860058e363c9d5924ccd35edb43b85)

- **Connection:** 2.4GHz USB-C dongle and Bluetooth
- **Drivers:** 40mm neodymium
- **Battery:** Up to 30h (2.4GHz) or 40h (Bluetooth)
- **Mic:** Detachable ClearCast boom mic
- **Weight:** 260g
- **Price range:** $$ (around $110)

The Arctis Nova 3 Wireless is the headset we'd buy for a Switch 2. It brings the full, balanced sound and solid build of SteelSeries' pricier Arctis Nova models to a much more affordable package, and the companion app adds presets tuned for popular games. Everything from Mario Kart World to GameCube classics sounds rich and clear.

Its USB-C dongle plugs into the console's top or bottom port, so you get low-latency wireless audio in handheld mode as well as docked, and Bluetooth is there for your phone. Battery life is excellent, at up to 30 hours on 2.4GHz and 40 on Bluetooth. It also comes in pastel Aqua and Lavender colors that suit a Switch setup. There's no noise cancelling.

#### What we like

- Full, balanced sound
- USB-C dongle works in handheld mode
- Long battery life
- Fun color options; works with PS5 and PC too

#### What we don't

- No active noise cancelling
- The dongle ties up one of the console's USB-C ports

**Cheaper options:** the Logitech G325 Lightspeed is very light at 212g and has 2.4GHz and Bluetooth for around $80, though its mic is only average. For kids, the wired Turtle Beach Airlite Fit costs under $30 and plugs straight into the headphone jack.

Best earbuds

## SteelSeries Arctis GameBuds {#arctis-gamebuds}

The best gaming earbuds, perfect for playing on the go

![SteelSeries Arctis GameBuds wireless gaming earbuds with charging case](https://reviewblip.com/editorial-images/b77ce73c1a9685f47782ae00fb74c68a03cb787ff10f2a1ff04b99eb07d9d9c7)

- **Connection:** 2.4GHz (USB-C dongle) and Bluetooth 5.3
- **Noise cancelling:** Yes, plus transparency mode
- **Battery:** 10h per charge (40h with case)
- **Controls:** Physical buttons
- **Weight:** 5.3g per bud
- **Price range:** $$$

A big headset isn't always practical on a train or plane, which is where the Arctis GameBuds come in. They're the best gaming earbuds we know of, and they double as excellent everyday buds. Connect to the Switch 2 through the tiny USB-C dongle for low-latency audio in handheld mode, then switch to Bluetooth for your phone with a triple press, and each connection can have its own EQ preset. SteelSeries' app now offers more than 300 game-specific sound profiles.

We love that they use real buttons instead of fiddly touch controls, so inputs are never missed. Noise cancelling and transparency are both on board, and battery life is a strong 10 hours per charge with 40 more in the compact case.

#### What we like

- 2.4GHz and Bluetooth in one pair
- Physical buttons
- ANC and huge library of EQ presets
- Great battery life

#### What we don't

- In-ear detection can be unreliable
- Pricier than regular earbuds

Best power bank

## Anker Power Bank (25,000mAh, Built-In Cables) {#anker-power-bank-25k}

Enough juice to get your Switch 2 through a long trip

![Anker 25,000mAh power bank with built-in USB-C cables and display](https://reviewblip.com/editorial-images/ee512773e970116d47707391c7f4ffc0c2ee6d7c472fcc53e18388fe9d787663)

- **Capacity:** 25,000mAh
- **Output:** Up to 100W USB-C fast charging
- **Cables:** Two built-in USB-C cables
- **Extras:** Smart display showing charge level and wattage
- **Price range:** $$ (list around $135, often under $100 on sale)

The Switch 2 burns through its battery fast, and this Anker brick is our pick to keep it going. With 25,000mAh of capacity against the console's 5,220mAh battery, it can recharge the Switch 2 several times over, and its fast USB-C output has more than enough power for the console (and for a laptop, too). You'll never forget a cable, because two USB-C cables are built in.

The built-in display is more useful than it sounds: it shows exactly how much power is left in the bank and how much is flowing to each device, so there's no guessing before a trip. The trade-off for all that capacity is size and weight, so it's better suited to a backpack than a pocket.

#### What we like

- Several full Switch 2 charges
- Built-in USB-C cables
- Informative display
- Powerful enough for laptops

#### What we don't

- Big and heavy
- Pricey at full price

**Something smaller?** The JSAUX 20,000mAh power bank (65W) was designed with handhelds in mind, with a permanently attached cable and a clear display, in a smaller shape.

Best charging grip

## Nintendo Joy-Con 2 Charging Grip {#joy-con-2-charging-grip}

The included grip, but it charges your Joy-Con 2 while you play

![Nintendo Joy-Con 2 Charging Grip in retail packaging](https://reviewblip.com/editorial-images/5caa25a7d6a32457dc40694a9cd3a1a25117d81acffa683af6ee0c8b8b0b4a36)

- **Type:** Official Joy-Con 2 grip with charging
- **Compatibility:** Joy-Con 2 only (sold separately)
- **Charging:** USB-C
- **Price range:** $ (around $40–$50)

The grip that comes in the Switch 2 box turns your Joy-Con 2 into a single controller, but it can't charge them, so a long docked session can end with flat controllers. Nintendo's Charging Grip solves that: plug it in with a USB-C cable and your Joy-Con 2 charge while you keep playing. If you don't want to buy a Pro Controller, it's the easiest way to make the included controllers more practical on the couch.

It's an official accessory, so fit and button response are exactly as Nintendo intended. It doesn't change the ergonomics much compared with the standard grip, though, and it costs a fair amount for what it is.

#### What we like

- Charge while you play
- Perfect official fit
- Cheaper than a second controller

#### What we don't

- Pricey for a grip
- Same basic ergonomics as the included grip

**Cheaper and comfier:** the JSAUX Ergonomic Switch 2 Charging Grip costs around $22 and adds optional handles that make the Joy-Con 2 more comfortable to hold. To charge several pairs at once, a Joy-Con 2 charging station like the Genki Joy-Station is worth a look.

## Best Switch 2 accessories by need {#by-need}

| If you need… | Our pick | Budget alternative |
|---|---|---|
| **A controller for the TV** | Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller | 8BitDo Ultimate 2C Bluetooth |
| **A controller that also works on PC** | 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Bluetooth | 8BitDo Ultimate 2C Bluetooth |
| **Protection on the go** | Belkin Charging Case | Belkin Carrying Case (no battery) |
| **A scratch-free screen** | amFilm OneTouch (clear) | amFilm matte, for glare |
| **More storage** | Samsung P9 Express (512GB) | Samsung P9 Express (256GB) |
| **A headset** | SteelSeries Arctis Nova 3 Wireless | Turtle Beach Airlite Fit (wired) |
| **Audio for travel** | SteelSeries Arctis GameBuds | Logitech G325 Lightspeed |
| **Longer battery life** | Anker Power Bank (25,000mAh) | JSAUX 20,000mAh power bank |
| **Charged Joy-Con 2** | Nintendo Joy-Con 2 Charging Grip | JSAUX Ergonomic Charging Grip |

**Not sure where to start?** Every Switch 2 owner should get a screen protector and a case. If you buy digital games, add a microSD Express card next. Then choose based on how you play: a Pro Controller if you're mostly docked, a power bank and earbuds if you're mostly on the move.

## How to choose Switch 2 accessories: 6 things that matter {#how-to-choose}

### 1. Make sure it's made for Switch 2

The Switch 2 is bigger than the original and uses magnetic Joy-Con 2, so Switch 1 cases, grips and screen protectors won't fit. Some older controllers and headsets still work, but look for "for Nintendo Switch 2" on anything that touches the console itself.

### 2. Buy the right storage card

Only microSD Express cards can run Switch 2 games. Older microSD cards will still hold screenshots, videos and some Switch 1 games, but not new Switch 2 titles. 256GB is a sensible starting point; go bigger if you buy most games digitally.

### 3. Official or third-party controllers

Nintendo's Pro Controller is the only option with every feature, including HD Rumble 2, amiibo, wake-from-sleep and easy back-button mapping in the system menu. Third-party pads like 8BitDo's cost less and often add Hall effect or more durable sticks, but usually miss some of those extras and may need a firmware update.

### 4. Wireless audio options

The Switch 2 supports Bluetooth audio, but for gaming we prefer a headset or earbuds with a USB-C dongle, which gives lower latency and works in handheld mode. The console and the Pro Controller also have a 3.5mm jack for wired headsets.

### 5. Plan for battery life

Battery life is the Switch 2's weak spot in handheld mode. If you travel, a charging case or a power bank with USB-C fast charging (and ideally a built-in cable) makes a big difference.

### 6. Watch out for bundles

Large "20-in-1" accessory kits can be tempting, but the quality varies a lot. You'll usually get better results buying a good case, screen protector and storage card separately, especially during holiday sales.

## Frequently asked questions {#faq}

### Do original Switch accessories work with the Switch 2?

Some do. Many older wireless controllers and headsets still connect, and the original Pro Controller works, but cases, screen protectors, Joy-Con and grips designed for the first Switch won't fit. Older microSD cards can't run Switch 2 games.

### Do I need a microSD Express card?

Only if 256GB of internal storage isn't enough. If you mostly buy physical game cards you may never need one; if you buy digital, it's one of the first accessories we'd get.

### Is the Nintendo Switch 2 Camera worth buying?

Not for most people yet. Cameras only add on-screen video in GameChat and a few supported games, and the cheaper licensed options have low video quality. That's why we haven't included one in this guide. If you want one, pick a USB-C camera with at least 1080p resolution.

### Do I need an extra dock for the TV?

Only if you want to connect the Switch 2 to a second TV. If you do, the JSAUX 6-in-1 dock is a lower-cost alternative to a second official dock, with up to 4K/60Hz output and room to charge four Joy-Con 2.

### What's the best controller for Switch 2?

The Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller, if your budget allows. The 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Bluetooth is our favorite cheaper alternative. For more cross-platform options, see [our guide to the best controllers and headsets](/articles/best-gaming-accessories-2026-buying-guide/), and if you're still choosing a system, read [our guide to the best consoles](/articles/best-gaming-consoles-2026-buying-guide/).

### Do you have a guide for PlayStation too?

Yes. Our picks for controllers, storage, headsets, PlayStation Portal and more are in [our guide to the best PS5 accessories](/articles/best-ps5-accessories-2026/).
